Not handy?
Never learned how to fix things around the house?
Do you take 13 trips to Home Depot for a Saturday project?
Not at all interested in spending your entire weekend fixing a leaking sink?
Welcome!
I am a full “YES” to all those as well.
At least I was until I became a homeowner.
Well, I’m a homeowner, but still don’t have a real interest in learning how to do all the home maintenance. But there is always something to be worked on, fixed, or updated.
I didn’t even know what to do when we bought the house.
In fact, someone told me that I needed to change out the locks on the house as the very first thing. (The thought never crossed my mind.)
Then 3 days after taking the keys, we had a small flood in our basement. *facepalm*

I’m Jason, Not A Handy Person

I have a beautiful wife and 2 boys. I also have my own business and work in technology, so it’s not for lack of capability to learn and do these things. But I’d rather spend my time with my family, going to a baseball game, or doing just about anything else.
Most times when I work around the house, I come away with some physical damage to myself. Whether that’s scrapes on my hands or ripped jeans or a pulled back.
Truth be told though, I do feel proud and accomplished when completing a home project. But there’s always something in the back of my mind that feels I didn’t do it “right” or I used the wrong “thing.”
I’m here to share with you all the bumps, lessons, stories, and wins for all the home projects and around-the-house maintenance.
Our Mission: To Make Homeowner DIY Easy, Fun, and Effective.
If socket wrench sizes drive you mad and you don’t care about the difference between a drywall screw and a wood screw, then you’ll enjoy the content on this site.
We personally battle-test every tool, resource, store, and project shown here on this website. We take pride in recommending the best brands and sharing the most effective, easy DIY methods for the non-DIYer.
Before we recommend anything on Not A Handy Person, we research every step of the process and compare plans, resources, reviews, and how-to’s from popular retailers and seasoned DIYers and Professionals.
As a geek, I need to have my home to work for me and not suck me into the mundane.
So if you are into some smart home automation or simple hacks for time, we’ll be sharing that here as well.
